Our Story

A family on
the water.

The crew and a happy client Returning to Preveza Dolphins in the Ambracian Gulf

— About us

We live on
this water.

We are Giannis, Dimitris, Vaya and Katerina — a family based at Preveza Harbour, on the Ambracian Gulf. Amvrakikos Cruises began as a father-and-son idea, built around a simple belief: to share this place as we know it — with honesty, care, and a deep connection to the water. Today, it remains a family effort, with each of us playing our part.

The Ambracian Gulf is not a destination for us — it is where we grew up, where we work, and where we raise our own families. We know every dolphin pod, every seasonal shift in the birdlife, every current. That knowledge is what you come with us to find.

Our goal in every cruise is to highlight what makes this corner of Greece genuinely extraordinary — its nature, its wildlife, its food, and above all the spirit of hospitality that has defined this place for centuries. We want every guest to leave with a smile and a memory that lasts.

The family

Giannis, Dimitris,
Vaya & Katerina

A family shaped by the sea. We share every part of the experience — from life on board to the food prepared fresh during each cruise, and the understanding that comes from years spent on these waters.

— Our philosophy

Quality, not
quantity.

We believe that tourism has value only when it respects both nature and local communities. We avoid mass tourism deliberately — keeping groups small, operating responsibly, and adapting our cruises to the real conditions of the Gulf on the day.

Our daily presence at sea means we understand the Ambracian Gulf in depth. We come into contact with people from all over the world and every summer, in an atmosphere that unites us. That is what we do — and we love doing it.

— Conservation

Not just a trip.
A responsibility.

Our relationship with the Ambracian Gulf goes beyond tourism. We are an active partner in the scientific research and conservation of this ecosystem — the place we call home.

University of Thessaly

Official collaboration with the Laboratory of Hydrobiology & Ichthyology. We support data collection, genetic studies of dolphin populations, and long-term monitoring of marine mammals.

University of Patras

We provide field access, observational data, and logistical support for research programmes that document the biodiversity, behaviour, and health of marine species in the Gulf.

SYMMAHIA Alliance

Proud members of SYMMAHIA — a collaborative alliance of organisations working together for the protection and sustainable future of the Ambracian Gulf ecosystem.

“Our priority is to make sure that every guest leaves with a smile and memories that last. With that in mind, we always try to give our best.”
