The Ambracian Gulf is one of Greece’s largest enclosed bays — a Εθνικό Πάρκο, a Ramsar protected wetland, and a UNESCO site of outstanding biodiversity. It is an inland sea of extraordinary ecological importance, sheltered from the open Mediterranean by a narrow channel at Preveza.

Ο κόλπος φιλοξενεί έναν μόνιμο πληθυσμό άνω των 120 ρινοδέλφινων — έναν από τους μεγαλύτερους στην ανατολική Μεσόγειο. Θαλάσσιες χελώνες Caretta caretta τρέφονται εδώ όλο τον χρόνο. Έχουν καταγραφεί περισσότερα από 250 είδη πουλιών, μεταξύ των οποίων αργυροπελεκάνοι, φλαμίνγκο, ερωδιοί και σπάνια μεταναστευτικά είδη.

We are an active member of the World Cetacean Alliance and work with marine biology departments at Greek universities to monitor and protect the dolphin population. Every cruise contributes data to ongoing research.
